Health permeates every aspect of our lives including our physical, psychological and social wellbeing. Historically, the biomedical model has focused on the physical health of the individual. This course situates health and wellbeing in its wider societal context, and critically examines the role of health in society as a whole. We will examine how we construct our concept of health, how it has evolved over time, what the real indicators what of health are, and how Covid-19 has changed our view of health.
