Seminar Overview

Contracts should be specific and detailed to ensure that both parties’ interests are protected in the event of a disagreement. However, the prospect of drafting a contract may seem both daunting and intimidating if you are a non-legal professional as the more details you put into a contract, the more complex your contract gets.

Choosing the right format and making sure you have the correct wording and necessary clauses can be difficult and confusing.

This seminar will take you through the contract process and will provide good foundational knowledge for both the drafting and reading of contracts including and outlining the below:

  • Key Provisions to include when Drafting a Contract
  • How a Contract Should be Structured – Framework, Clauses, Strategy
  • Use of Language – Legal Terminology versus Plain English
  • Commercial Sensitivities
  • Negotiating a Contract
  • Breach of Contract
  • Contracts in the Online World (current rules on e-signing)

As well as the structure of the contract itself, the seminar will discuss what is involved in contract negotiation, how to deal with breach of contract if a dispute arises and will also include any issues to be aware of in relation to online contracts as software and the world of technology continues to evolve.

Who should attend?

This seminar will be of interest and very beneficial to anyone whose role involves drafting and reading of contracts or for anyone who is in a newly appointed role in procurement, finance or HR who wants to gain a good working knowledge of contract management.
