About the Seminar
The Planning and Development Act 2024 (“the Act”) was signed into law on 17 October 2024 but has yet to be commenced. It is anticipated that the Act will be commenced in phases throughout 2025 and into 2026.
The Act, once commenced, will repeal and replace the Planning and Development Act 2000 and make certain amendments to other enactments. The overarching aim of the Act is to consolidate and revise the law relating to planning and development and to streamline the planning system.
The Act, inclusive of its seven schedules, runs to just over 900 pages and is broken up into 26 parts. The Act is said to be the third-largest piece of legislation in the history of the State. As such, it will implications for planning authorities, legal professionals, developers, and other key stakeholders.
