About our Masterclass:
PAI are delighted to host our short professional masterclass entitled Leading with Impact –Influence, Networking and Persuasion on Thursday 29 June.
This masterclass has been designed to cater for our clients busy schedules and offers participants a unique opportunity to connect with peers across a range of public sector organisations nationwide and will enable you to understand the do’s and don’ts and how to achieve the results you want without the frustration and loss of energy.
The ability to persuade and get “buy in” to an idea, a goal or a course of action is a valuable skill for officials of public sector bodies. This is especially true with multidisciplinary teams. Networking and influencing skills are increasingly recognised as important and they are core competencies in the Group and Interpersonal Effectiveness Cluster of the PMDS framework.
An official who has networking and influencing skills can be an asset to an organisation. Properly directed, such officials can motivate people, drive projects forward, remove barriers to change and become the natural leaders of tomorrow.
This seminar will help the individual to understand, develop and use influencing, networking and persuasion skills for the benefit of their organisation.
Persuasion is a life skill and life is one long series of influencing. It is a contact sport and rules apply, knowing the rules can be a huge advantage. Understanding your own influencing style means you could navigate this better, whilst recognising the hierarchical culture within the public sector/civil service.
Influencing is a powerful skill, essential for building strong relationships, achieving your goals, and becoming more effective in your career.
You are already influencing but do you know how and is your current style working for you? Giving people the facts as you see them won’t always persuade them, as most of us are persuaded by something different. What persuades you to buy a car, house or suit, go for a promotion competition or not? Do you base your decisions purely on facts or do you let your own personal likes and dislikes come into play? Does your head always rule your heart or vice versa?
Networking A high-net influence network is one of the most potent tools that a leader has at their disposal. But many of us do not know how to activate our network effectively and when. Leveraging your network is essential in the development of your personal brand leadership.
Style of Masterclass:
The session will be delivered to small groups in an energised environment with a focus on practical learning and useful techniques that participants can easily apply to their own situations. The programme will blend training and coaching techniques to embed learning and achieving lasting results.
Participants will discover some insights about their own style and discover why they may clash with their manager, direct reports, or others, and recognise the purpose and value of having meaningful connections with other. Attention will focus on tools and techniques.
