Neurodiversity refers to the different ways the brain can work and interpret information.
In Ireland, an estimated 4% of the population are considered neurodiverse, which includes Autism, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Disorders and Obsessive-compulsive Disorders.
Despite most companies having an increasing focus on equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace, the neurodivergent group can often be overlooked in the workplace.
This half day online programme will offer HR professionals, line managers and employee relations officers the tools required to support their neurodivergent employees, both from a legal and practical application standpoint.
Participants will gain a greater understanding of how to implement best practice policies and create a more inclusive workplace.
This seminar will give delegates a more indepth understanding of what is means to be neurodiverse and how a neurodiverse person thinks. This will aid in understanding how accommodations can be made in the workplace if required.
The seminar will discuss practical considerations that can be taken into account in the workplace to create a more inclusive environment including a ‘no obligation to disclose’ policy, relevant workshops and training and reasonable accommodations regarding the recruitment process, clear communication and assistive technologies. The legal aspect of this seminar will look at:
- Legal updates on the Employment Equality Acts and Disability Act with specific reference to neurodiversity
- Managing staff with Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and other forms of Neurodivergence
- Creating clear guidance on employee rights and responsibilities in the workplace to ensure fair treatment
