Workshop Overview


This half day online programme will offer HR professionals, line managers and employee relations officers the tools required to support their employees, both from a legal and practical application standpoint, as they tackle the challenges posed by the experience of menopause in the workplace.

Participants will gain a greater understanding of how to implement best practice policies and create a more inclusive workplace. This training will also look at the business case for these best practice policies in driving progression, boosting performance and retaining a skilled workforce, whilst encouraging women to stay within the sector.

Our first talk will cover the topic of ‘Menopause and it’s Impact at Work’ and will look at the following issues:

  • Broad introduction to peri-menopause/menopause
  • How menopause/peri-menopause affects women at work
  • How productivity, performance and retention can be affected
  • How to support women in the workplace…where to begin

Our second talk of the morning will cover the legal and practical standpoint for supporting employees through the challenges posed by the experience of menopause. Our legal barrister will cover menopause policies and whether they are a legal requirement for all employers to have in place. Discussion points will include the below

  • Legal considerations and best practice for encouraging a menopause friendly work environment
  • Specific areas of liability; sex, age and/or disability discrimination
  • Duty of care, health and safety and managing symptoms of menopause

Our Speakers


Nicola WolfeMSc. Pg. Dip. Ed., RNT, RPN, RNID. Nicola’s background is in nursing, education and mental health. She has an MSc. in Mental Health Interventions and a particular interest in cognitive behavioural and positive psychology approaches. She has trained as a Life, Personal and Executive Coach and also a Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach and is registered with EMCC as a coach practitioner. She has trained with the British Menopause Society in Group Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for the Management of Hot Flushes and Night Sweats and has also completed IMPART Level 1 training with the International Menopause Society and is currently undertaking IMPART Level 2 training. She is also completing Dr. Louise Newson’s training in Confidence in the Menopause. She provides 1:1 support and group education to people experiencing perimenopause and menopause using an educational and coaching programme she has developed called the Menopause Maze. She works with services for people with intellectual disabilities, and mental health services, providing education to staff supporting people experiencing perimenopause and menopause. She also provides education in workplaces on the issue of perimenopause and menopause at work.

 

Sharon Dillon-Lyons is a Barrister-at-Law. She practices in civil litigation including tort and contract law. She has experience working in policy and compliance with non governmental organisations; specifically legal duties of bodies including legislative compliance with data protection, freedom of information and health and safety. She also has experience of best practice tools to monitor implementation of policies, procedures and compliance with legal and contractual obligations.
