Workshop Outline

We all know that business writing must be polished and professional at all times, but how do you ensure that everything you write is correct? How do you train your eye to spot errors or inconsistencies in grammar, spelling and punctuation?

For example: When do you use a comma or a semi-colon? What is a correct sentence structure? How long should a sentence be? Is it ‘inquiry’ or ‘enquiry’? What’s the difference between ‘principal’ and ‘principle’?

This highly practical session will give you the tools and skills to write correctly using correct grammar and punctuation. You’ll also have the opportunity to apply the rules by working in small breakout groups. After the workshop, we’ll send you useful grammar and punctuation fact-sheets.

Workshop Content

  • What is grammar and why is it important?
  • Punctuation refresher – from apostrophes to semi-colons
  • Common errors – learn to hear alarm bells:
    • When is a sentence not a sentence?
    • Overlong, clunky sentences and paragraphs
    • Double meanings
