SUMMARY:Best Practice in Recruitment and Selection - Ensuring Equality and Building Diversity
DESCRIPTION:This programme is designed to support organisations in ensuring best practice in recruitment and selection\, with a particular focus on ensuring fairness and equality. \nThe programme focuses on developing the knowledge and skills that participants need to embed equality throughout the recruitment and selection process\, including job design/campaign booklet\, advertising\, shortlisting and interviewing stages. \nParticipants will gain a solid understanding of the requirements in the Employment Equality Acts 1998-2021 (and the Public Sector Duty) to ensure no discrimination in recruitment and selection on 9 grounds (gender\, family status\, civil status\, age\, disability\, religion\, race\, sexual orientation and membership of the traveller community). \nThe programme also explores the broader topic of valuing diversity and inclusion\, and how moving beyond equality requirements helps organisations to become employers of choice \nLearning Outcomes: \nUnderstanding recruitment and selection and the law: \n– the 9 protected grounds \n– types of discrimination \n– providing reasonable accommodations \n  \nEnsuring equality in the recruitment stage: \n– designing the job and the campaign booklet \n– advertising roles \n  \nEnsuring equality in the selection stage: \n– shortlisting \n– preparing for and conducting competency and capability based interviews \n– documentation\, note taking and record keeping \n– assessment/scoring of candidates \n  \nValuing diversity – developing more inclusive workforces \n– understanding unconscious bias and how it impacts on recruitment and selection \n– tips for developing inclusive recruitment and selection practices \n  \nIntended audience: \nThis course is particularly useful for anyone who is involved in selection interviewing\, including managers and HR staff.
