Seminar Overview

The Climate Action Plan 2025 (CAP25) represents the third statutory annual update to Ireland’s Climate Action Plan under the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021.

Building upon the Climate Action Plan 2024, “the Plan lays out a roadmap of actions which will ultimately lead us to meeting our national climate objective of pursuing and achieving, by no later than the end of the year 2050, the transition to a climate resilient, biodiversity rich, environmentally sustainable and climate neutral economy. It aligns with the legally binding economy-wide carbon budgets and sectoral emissions ceilings that were agreed by Government in July 2022”.

This seminar will explore how organisations are integrating environmental sustainability into their governance structures and strategic decision-making. This work examines the evolving role of boards of directors, executives, and shareholders in addressing climate-related risks and opportunities. It will also highlight best practices for aligning corporate governance frameworks with global sustainability goals (environmental, social and governance – ESG), regulatory expectations, and stakeholder demands.

By focusing on accountability, transparency, and long-term value creation, the seminar will highlight the critical importance of governance in driving meaningful environmental action and corporate climate responsibility.
