About the seminar  

The role of an Assistant Principal (and equivalent grades e.g. Grade 8) in the public sector is an important and often varied role. While roles and responsibilities can vary, there are a number of core competencies that are critical for effective performance and career development at this level. Competencies are the knowledge, skills and attributes that we need for effective performance. Objectives and tasks describe what we do and why we do it – competencies describe how we deliver on these.

This practical and engaging 1 day online workshop,  includes a career development coaching session to support participants in their self-development and expertise.

This programme is based on core competencies for APs that are set out in the Public Appointments Service Competency Framework, which are as follows:

Course Tutor

Sile O'DonnellThe AP Core Skills programme is delivered by our HR Training Specialist, Sile O’Donnell. Sile is a HR and Training Consultant and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in HRM and Organisational Behaviour in Trinity College Dublin. Prior to setting up her own consultancy Sile spent 26 years working in the public sector in a range of roles at EO, HEO, AP and Director level. She is a subject matter expert in competency based training, and feedback from previous programmes has been exceptionally positive.
