About the seminar

PAI’s Climate Action Leadership Training has been meticulously developed to align with the Irish government’s Climate Action Plan 2023 (CAP23) which is the second annual update to Ireland’s strategic approach to climate action since the inception of the Climate Action Plan in 2019.

In May 2023, the Government endorsed the Public Sector Climate Action Mandate 2023, a critical component outlined in Chapter 10 of the Climate Action Plan 2023, emphasising the leadership role of the public sector in driving climate action.

This training outline is directly tied to Mandate requirement 2.5, which mandates that all senior management personnel (PO level or equivalent and above) complete a Climate Action Leadership Training course.

Moving forward, the Climate Action Plan 2024 (CAP24) represents the third annual update to Ireland’s evolving climate action strategy. Government approval of the Plan on 20 December 2023, subject to Strategic Environmental Assessment and Appropriate Assessment, highlights its strategic importance. Notable enhancements include the addition of a dedicated chapter on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), facilitating a comprehensive assessment of each Plan chapter’s impact on SDG targets.
