Seminar Overview

This half day seminar aims to teach participants how to provide useful advice to the Minister and other decision makers, by explaining the core principles of good advice, the type of advice required, and some of the processes that exist for providing advice to the Minister and Secretary General. The seminar is very much a politically-based training session that encapsulates the wide and varied challenges that come with handling crisis scenarios and how best to communicate the message up the line— or even directly at a Ministerial level.

Our expert-led seminar will focus on the principles behind crisis communication on a broad scale, incorporating information-gathering, making or not making public statements, and how to handle stakeholders. It will include a very practical discussion-based workshop. This seminar allows attendees to interact with peers and gain expert insight on best practice methods of managing very public crisis scenarios.

  • Understand the core principles of providing clear and succinct policy advice
  • How to recognise the type of questions that the advice provided should be able to answer
  • An understanding of the role of the Minister and the Secretary General
