DESCRIPTION:Overview\nOne day long professional programme \nIn today’s fast-paced\, information-rich environment\, report writing is more than just a documentation exercise…. it’s a strategic communication skill. This one-day workshop equips professionals with the tools to write reports that are clear\, compelling\, and drive action. Participants will explore how to structure information for maximum impact\, tell powerful stories with data\, and present written insights in a way that informs\, influences\, and inspires. \nGrounded in the principles of plain English and communication as a leadership skill\, this session blends practical writing habits with strategic thinking. Whether writing for executives\, clients\, or teams\, participants will learn how to write reports that are not only read but remembered. \nThe session will also address the growing use of AI tools in report writing\, with practical guidance on how to use them effectively in the various phases of report structuring\, drafting\, and editing\, as well as looking at output quality control. \nThe workshop is interactive\, combining real-world examples\, hands-on exercises\, and peer feedback to support skill development that participants can apply immediately in their roles. \nLearning Outcomes \nBy the end of this programme\, participants will be able to: \n• Write with clarity and purpose\, leading with key messages and tailoring their writing to specific audiences and contexts.\n• Use structure and formatting effectively to enhance readability\, including the use of headings\, bullet points\, and visual spacing.\n• Apply plain English principles to create writing that is accessible\, concise\, and effective—regardless of subject complexity.\n• Incorporate storytelling techniques to turn data into insights\, using narrative framing and visual tools to make technical information more engaging and actionable.\n• Craft compelling subject lines\, titles\, and calls to action that prompt meaningful responses and support decision-making.\n• Recognise writing as a tool of leadership\, using it to communicate priorities\, build trust\, and influence stakeholders.\n• Present written insights confidently\, applying verbal communication techniques to reinforce key messages and respond effectively to questions. \nThe programme will also cover the use AI of tools thoughtfully in the report-writing process\, including drafting effective prompts for tasks such as structuring\, drafting\, and editing reports\, and applying practical checks to assess the reliability and clarity of AI-generated output. \nWho should attend this training?   \nThis programme is ideal for public service professionals who write reports\, briefings\, or updates that inform decisions\, influence stakeholders\, or communicate policy.
