This advanced procurement capability development suite has been designed to complement and build upon existing programmes already delivered in the Irish public sector, including the established 8-day Public Procurement Certificate and 2-day Procurement Essentials course.
While those programmes provide essential grounding in public procurement rules and processes, this suite represents the next stage of development, offering deeper, more specialised and highly practical learning across key procurement disciplines. Structured as a modular and scalable suite, the programmes are organised across low, medium and high levels of complexity.
This enables organisations and individuals to engage with content aligned to their role, experience and organisational priorities. The courses can be taken individually or as part of a structured pathway, acting as building blocks to progressively strengthen procurement capability.
The suite is designed for a broad audience, including individuals new to public procurement, experienced procurement professionals seeking to deepen expertise, and business stakeholders such as budget holders, contract managers and technical specialists. It also supports senior leaders and executives who depend on procurement to deliver organisational outcomes.
The content reflects real-world public sector challenges, including compliance with EU Classic and Utilities Directives, OGP guidance, budget pressures, evolving supply markets, ESG requirements and the increasing role of technology and AI.
It draws on best practice from Ireland and internationally.
A key differentiator is its focus on practical application, decision-making and value delivery across the full procurement lifecycle. The suite aligns with the Civil and Public Service Capability Framework, strengthening capabilities such as strategic thinking, digital innovation, governance, collaboration and delivery.
It positions procurement as a strategic enabler of value, innovation and public service delivery.
