Course Overview
Change Leadership and Management helps organisations to transition smoothly during periods of change—whether it’s new technology, restructuring, updated processes, or cultural shifts.
PAI’s Change Leadership programme for public sector leaders is designed for leaders with the aim to support, lead out on and deliver the change needed to enable the successful implementation of organisational strategy.
The Civil Service capability framework makes reference to the implementation of change management processes and managing and supporting change under the Building Future Readiness capability for all grades. This programme will discuss and outline the concept of change leadership and the role leaders play in organisational change, using common change management models (PROSCI and Bridges).
During the workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to reflect on and look at change leadership in their own organisations and see where it can adapt, given internal cultures and/or restrictions.
Topics of Discussion
During the workshop, participants will consider the following areas:
• The role of leadership in cultural/organisational change
• Explore our own mindsets when we think about change
• Explore change leadership theories
• Common sources of resistance to change and develop strategies to address and overcome resistance
• Enhanced skills for effective communication during times of change
Participants will leave the workshop with a positive mindset as change agents.
The style of the workshop is participative to include group discussions and self-reflection exercises and provides support and challenges to leaders as it sets direction and pace for creating a change leadership culture for strategy delivery.
Learning Outcomes
• Identify a common understanding of how we can shape that culture and the role of leadership in cultural change
• Explore the realities of enabling change as both a daily activity and as key leadership accountability and how to overcome any mindset roadblocks
• Implement change management strategies and consider practical application strategies in your own organisation
• Look at change leadership in your own context and identify where it can be adapted, given internal cultures and/or restrictions
