The Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan TD has appointed Ms Tricia Sheehy Skeffington, a barrister, and Mr Tim Ryan, a public relations consultant, to the Board of the  Private Residential Tenancies Board for a term to last until May 30 2015. This brings the Board membership to 12 persons.

In mid-2011, the Minister issued a call for expressions of interest in serving on State boards under his aegis.

The Board is an independent statutory agency established in 2004 under the Residential Tenancies Act and its main functions are:
• the resolution of disputes between tenants and landlords;
• the registration of tenancies in the private rented residential sector; and
• the provision of advice to the Minister in relation to the private rented residential sector.
