The Chair of the Public Accounts Committee John McGuinness TD and the Comptroller and Auditor General John Buckley have been confirmed as speakers for the Public Affairs Ireland National Conference on Friday November 18 2011. The conference, which is being convened especially to examine the delivery of public services at a time of challenge and change will also hear from Donal McNally, the Second Secretary General of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform and leading organisational change specialists, occupational psychologists and legal experts.
The conference will be forward looking to see what 2012 will hold for individual public servants and public sector organisations. It will also examine how public sector reforms and the expected outflow of experienced staff in February 2012 will impact on service delivery. The conference will discuss how the public accountability mechanisms will work in a time of change and hear from the PAC Chair and the C&AG on how the drive for efficiency, productivity and value for money in the delivery of public services will continue to be a priority.
Delegates will also hear from expert speakers on topics such as change management, law and psychology on how change can be managed and delivered for both individuals and organisations.
Don Bergin, Director of Public Affairs Ireland commented that the conference is both timely and relevant and will provide an opportunity for a focused and practical consideration of the range of challenges that will face public servants in 2012. “This conference will be practical, targeted and focused – not pitched at an abstract level– it will address the matters from the perspective of individual public servants, both those considering retirement in the New Year and those who will be remaining as staff and management within organisations.”
