The Minister for Justice has published the European Arrest Warrant (Application to Third Countries and Amendment) and Extradition (Amendment) Bill 2011.

The Bill, which makes amendments to the European Arrest Warrant Act 2003 and the Extradition Act, 1965, will allow Ireland to surrender agreements entered into by the European Union with countries other than Member States of the Union.

Another key provision includes the power to apply all or any of the provisions of the European Arrest Warrant Act 2003 to a third country, when previously it only applied to EU member states.
