Public consultation is being sought for a new national waste policy that will bring Ireland in line with EU regulations. A discussion document has been made available for contributions on the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government website.

The document sets out various initiatives and proposals for consideration. Minister Phil Hogan TD said that it presents an opportunity for the public to shape the national waste policy and will ultimately aim to reduce wastage and maximise resource recovery.

Interested parties can take part in the consultation until September 30 with the finalised document being published before the end of the year.
