Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte TD, yesterday launched ‘Better Energy’, which will streamline the existing residential programmes, support jobs and help consumers lower their energy bills according to the Department.
This comes following the announcement of the allocation by the Government of €30m towards the retrofit programme as part of the Jobs Initiative, announced on Tuesday evening in the Dáil.
Better Energy is a programme designed to ensure that there are more opportunities for householders and businesses to reduce their energy consumption which would in turn lead to real and lasting cost savings. It will replace the three existing programmes: Home Energy Saving Scheme (HES), Warmer Homes Scheme (WHS) and Greener Homes Scheme (GHS), placing them under one umbrella.
