Today, 10th September 2014, the Government has approved the appointment of Helen Dixon as the new Data Protection Commissioner.

Ms. Dixon has expertise in both the public and private sector. She has held senior management positions in the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation. In December 2009 she was appointed Registrar of Companies.

She has worked for over a decade in two U.S IT multinational companies with EMEA bases in Ireland. In 2014 she was appointed an honorary fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

She will be succeeding Mr. Billy Hawkes in the position, and is expected to take up her position within a number of weeks.
