Television broadcaster Bill O’Herlihy has been appointed a the Chairman designate of Bord Scannán na hÉireann/Irish Film Board.

Seven others have also been appointed to the Board including: Mr Maurice Sweeney, Documentary Filmmaker; Dr Annie Doona, President of Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT); Mr John Rice, director, co-founder and CEO of JAM Media; Ms Kate O’Toole, award winning actress; Mr Seamus Deasy, award winning cinematographer; and Ms Katie Holly, producer and MD of Bl!nder Films.

Announcing the appointments, Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht said that the new board “can be a catalyst to help the agency grow and develop and to nurture the next generation of audiovisual talent in Ireland”.

The appointments are for a four year period.
