Minister for Communications, Pat Rabbitte TD, has announced details of National Digital Switchover Week which will take place from September 17 – 23, 2012.

Organised by the Department of Communications, Energy & Natural Resources together with The Wheel and Irish Rural Link, National Digital Switchover Week will see events taking place across the country to encourage those who have not yet made the change to digital TV to do so now.

The initiative will take place just one month before the analogue TV network in Ireland is switched off on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 and will feature coffee mornings, information events in local shopping centres, family fun days, and various other events in an effort to raise awareness about the switch to digital TV.

The Minister hopes that the timing of this campaign, along with the delivery of public information booklets to every home in the country in June and ongoing local awareness initiatives led by the Digital Outreach Champions, will ensure that the remaining 200,000 homes without digital TV will make the switch before the October deadline.
